    Hi
I am building a new pc, and I want it to run at least 2 years before I go for a new one... Please tell me which one is the best and is worth the price?

    AMD:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz / 2x512kb Socket AM2
    price 405$

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz / 2x512kB Socket AM2
    price 325$

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz / 2x512kB Socket AM2
    Price 250$

    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz / 512kB Socket AM2
    price 150$

    Intel:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "Conroe" 2.4GHz / 1066MHz / 4MB
    price: 475$

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 "Conroe" 2.13GHz / 1066MHz / 2MB
    price: 345$

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 "Conroe" 1.86GHz / 1066MHz / 2MB
    price: 280$

Please advise me if AM2 sockets are better than 939 or not. Please advise me which one responds best for Overclocking.

I appreciate any reply. I live in Stockholm and the prices are the Sweden prices.

I forgot to mention that I need the pc for gaming and especially for calculating chess moves.

Please note that in the AMD section there is a wrong processor, please change look at this one instead of the single processor 3800:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz / 2x512kB Socket AM2
    Price: 205$

Ive just decided on the e6600 processor, but now i cant decide on the board.I note that nearly all new boards only have one ide channel for two devices.I wonder if the fu*kwit who designed them realises that most users have at least two opticals let alone any hds that need this socket.I only know of one manufacturer that makes a sata optical and thats plextor who are too expensive and aint that good. So, for a pieman that has three opticals, two pata drives and three sata drives who doesnt game but does mainly video/dvd work, which board should i go for?Budget is around £120/$200.Have had all asus boards in the past.

    thanks

what about E6300 if I could overclock it? how much can I overclock it and how good cooling equipment is required? you see that there is a big price gap between E6600 and E6300 :)
