Hi all, I have a sony vaio laptop and it is VERY slow to boot. I have the bare minimum for startup programs, so that isn't the problem. A few months back it was exceptionally fast to boot up, and then all of a sudden it was exceptionally slow to boot. I can't remember doing changing anything or installing any new programs before it started booting up, so I don't think the problem lies in a freshly installed program either. Does anyone have any ideas that might help me get the stupid thing booting faster? It is some sort of hardware failure? Thanks in advance!
Most likely your infected with malware. Run a good virus scan and get some ad removing programs (such as Ad-Aware and SpyBot).
I use ad-aware, spybot, NOD32, and RKR on a regular basis and they havn't found any problems. I think the problem might be a failing harddrive.
