i just fitted a new graphics card(ati radeon 9800xt 256mb agp) & was trying to download some game demos from www.gamespot.com, www.gamezone.com & www.download.com i can download the games with no problems, but when i try to install them i recieve error messages. the errors are:550 cant change directory to to /pub/pc/games/pcgameworld/demos/riddick_demo_gsi.exe, c:documents and settings\neildougal\localsettings\temp\battlefield+2+demo+gc.zip: the archive is either in unknown format or damaged. cannot execute "c\docum~1\neildo~1\temp\rar$ex05.850\battlefield_2_demo.exe", error reading setup initialization file, the ntvdm has encountered an illegal instruction cs:06f0 ip:0267 op:63 74 69 6f 6e choose close to terminate the application. does anyone know what these mean?? i can install some games. id say out of 20 demos i tried to install, 10 recieved these various error messages.. the games that recieve these are: te elder scrolls VI: oblivion, swat 4, cell factor, age of empires III, battlefield2, chronicles of riddick, quake4, doom3, & unreal tournament 2004. anyone know where else i can get these demos? any help is appreciated. thanks
I don't think it's the source though because gamespot and download are a good source.It's acually a few different errors not the same one.I would contact the pc manufacturer by email if possible and explain the error.
