HD not working :(

i have an hd that gets connected by usb and every time i connect it windows dosent recocgnize it as a hd!! It did not come with andy software and it used to work before...so any help?

well, you could try updating your drivers

well you can try buy going to the company's web page

 

Windows will automatically detect it, as you have said it did before so unlikley to be a driver,start by replacing the usb cable with a known good one and then try a different usb port on the comp,by rights when the housing is turned on the hdd inside should be able to be heard running if it's not it's either a faulty housing or hdd

A quick test would be to fit the hdd in the spare bay of the comp if it's been partitioned it will show up in my computer,if it has not been partitioned it will show up in computer management,if it does not show up in either you have a stuffed hdd

EDIT: You will need to make sure the USB port you attach the ext hdd too is not USB1.1

 

another thing the device come up as "24"

 

and i dont know how it came up as 24
