GREetings everyone!!! I would like to ask somebody if you can help me solve the problem about this motherboard...i bought this type of motherboard a7v400-mx with an amd athlon 2800 xp processor but the bios only reads at 1250MHz how is this so? i already updated the bios version to 1009 and it still reads in that speed. Ive read some article about ths in the internet but those guys still confuses me..they talk about FSB 166 MHz and something about the multiplier. I read the manual of the motherboard but some says it is wrongly printed. I ask the techinician of that computer shop where i bought it but his suggesting me to reset the RTC Ram of the motherboard. Please give me the right solution..Thanks in advance for someone who can help me about this matter...God BLess
has it always only read 1250 mhz or is that new try disconnecting the power cable then removing the bios battery this ought to put it back to basic settings if it still reads the wrong speed you will have to adjust the fsb (front side bus) note 2800 is a performance rating not the actual speed of the processor if no luck google the motherboard details and look on the manufactors website
A 2800+ should read 2Ghz or there abouts. The Front side bus should be 166mhz, so if that's what it is, then you don't need to change that. Is this a new CPU in an old board? Even if not, check the multiplier and see if you can adjust it. It may be set to the value for an older CPU by accident. If there's no option to reset the multiplier, try unplugging the computer from the power and removing the battery from the BIOS in the board for an hour, then replacing the battery and powering the PC up again. It may reset the setting to what it should be.
