my laptop shuts down

    every time i run my antivirus my laptop shuts off. also, when i try to reinstall windows it shuts off. any trouble shooting ideas?

    just so everyone knows. the laptop was over heating, i underclock it to fix it. i know....i'm soooo smart. =)
