To all those who would like to do it yourself I would like to offer some pointers.
It is really easy to do once you have done your homework.
You see, you can download the NokiaFree calculator or a number of others that will do the job.
All you have to do then is spend weeks and weeks gathering DATA.
You see, the calculators you download are not up to date.
That means that you need to have up-to-date information on such things as:

MNC+MCC codes (That’s like an address for a Network)

Current Box Serials used (Like a PIN that each phone responds to) for a particular Network for a particular model phone.

The Networks keep changing their (PIN) codes.

It takes weeks and weeks of research to do that well and you need to update your information daily. [bold]Professionals[/bold] have better ways.
That is why you [bold] go to a Professional. [/bold] (I would if I were you)

I know Professional Sites that are very cheap but I may not and will not get into that here.

[bold]As a last resort,[/bold] you come to Forums like this with people like us [bold](Not all Professionals)[/bold] that have the time to do the research and use the information to help you.
    We try our best.

If you go to a[bold] Professional[/bold] or come to a Forum like this[bold] after[/bold] you have been messing around with your phone, it is almost impossible to help you.

I am new at this. My Data Base has only about 500 entries.

    Phone model.

    Network and Country.

What combination of settings to use on the calculator.

    When last that combination worked.

    ETC. ETC.

I have just started so you’ll [bold] forgive me if I get it wrong.[/bold]

The truth is that it is well worth the US$5.00 to unlock your phone.
I do not offer that service. Sorry.

If you want help and you have not been entering wrong codes you have a chance.

You will need ALL of this information:

Type in these numbers OR look under the battery to get the information.

    IMEI: *#06# , (Needed)
Firmware Version: *#0000# . (For model)

    [bold]Start a new Thread and post this:[/bold]

    Nokia: (Model)
    IMEI:############### (No spaces)
Network: (Network the phone is locked to)
Country: (Country the above Network is in)

    [bold] One last thing [/bold]
There are several on line Free Calcs.
I have not found one that is up to date.
It may work for some phones but be warned, there is a high probability that you will hard lock your phone.
The Moderators on this site have already found it necessary to ban a “Newbie” for posting codes, obtained from one of these Sites, that hard-locked members' phones. I will not tell you which one because someone WILL try it.
It’s no skin off my teeth if you try them. Not my phone.
Remember, you only get 3 to 5 tries. If you enter the same code two times, that is two tries.
    [bold] Be warned [/bold]

[bold] Please, if you have not done the research, do not offer codes. [/bold]

    [bold]Update:[/bold] November,2007
And now we have BB5 phones and DCT4 PLUS, ASIC 11 lock.
ASIC-11 is a new type of lock that we do not have useful information about.
    BB5 has a new technology.
    BB5 type phones include 5200,5300,6085,6280,6300, 6630, 6681, 6682 or
    any N-Series phones,N-70, N-90 or E series,E50,E60 etc
    DCT4 PLUS include 1110i RM-93, 1112, 1600b V 5.01 RH-65, 2310, 2610, 2760, and 6030 RM-225, etc.

    For a full list see;
    Models we can not unlock.
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/405992

These models cannot be unlocked as yet by this method.
    Not doable by FREE means.
Our calculators cannot generate codes for these.
The On-line remote Calculators will not work.
Only the original service provider can provide a code to unlock them
or a Professional shop with equipment may be able to do it in many cases.
In some cases, the software has not been updated but it is a work in progress.

    [bold]Be careful.
I understand that you only have three chances. If you
hard lock the phone by entering wrong codes, not even
the original Provider can unlock it by code. [/bold]

    I can’t stress this enough.
If your phone is one of these new types, do not mess with it.

    For what it’s worth,
    JG
