Is it possible to get sound from tv channels through my surround sound speakers? I know its not gonna be surround sound, but I had it done once years ago, but dont remember how to hook it up. The back of my digital cable box has a yellow video out and a red and white hook up. The back of the receiver has pretty much everything lol! I have a set of red, yellow, and white chords and a monster chord that I used to run from my dvd player from the coaxial hook up to the receiver into the DVD/6Channel hook up into the back of my receiver. I have had the receiver for about 5 years. Its the Kenwood VR-615. Any help would be great. Thanks guys
connect the red and white cables from the back of the cable box and connect them to a empty red and white inputs on your receiver you can use AUXin OR Tape in
The [bold]best[/bold] thing to do, is tell your cable company that you want a digital cable box, with a digital output for audio. They should give you one, without it costing extra, since you subscribe to digital cable already. Most channels you can get in Pro Logic (simulated surround), even with the red and white composite cables. But the digital cable is better. If you have any premium channels, you [bold]definately[/bold] want a digital cable! HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc., all have channels that broadcast in 5.1 surround. I have Time Warner digital cable. They have a package here, that I get the Encore channels, for $2.95 a month. Very much worth it. The Encore channels also broadcast sometimes, in 5.1 surround. Not all the time............
