I've encountered that there are some DVD's that my computer doesn't recognize to play, so I can't back up. Updated Anydvd does not show disc in drive. "No Disc is present in Drive D:!" (Ver 6.0.5.0) Power DVD says "Disc with Unsupported format in Drive" Media Player "Can't find Disc Directory". It has happened several times with kids DVD (Dora Halloween, Thomas the Train) and now it happened with "A Perfect Fit" DVD. However, I backed up my "Firewall" DVD without a glitch. I use Anydvd and 1Click to back up. Any suggestions why I can't read these discs on my computer?? All discs play without a prob in a standalone DVD player. Computer is a Gateway 420GR, drive is DVD +/- RW DVDRAM GSA-4120B- Thx in advance for any help/advice.
Having a two year old at home myself this might be a silly question, but what is the condition of the original discs?
3 and 1 yr old... understand the question. Discs are brand new. It is a bummer because I use the computer to play discs for the kids to free up the TV. Couldn't read them on the computer. Play fine on portable DVD player and standalone.
Could be a copy protection issue, the latest and greatest may be able to churn through those DVD's...give RipIt4Me a shot. Hi! Just a thought, are your Bios and your firmware up to date, maybe thats what is stopping your reader from working right.
BIOS and firmware?? That is out of my league. Everything else works fine. The drive is OK except for these discs I have. Any guide you can direct me to?? Thx
You'll want to try my option first, it is alot cheaper than replacing a PC or burner that you've fried due to a bad flash. If you want to try anothe method... Thx for the input. I have yet to try Decrypter or Ripit... I did go and rent Scary Movie 4 since I read it had some copy protection that was new to see if I could play it on the computer. No problem. Plays fine. Computer recognizes it. I'll post if Decrypter/Rip it helps, but I doubt it since not even Explorer reads the disc. It shows 0 bytes on drive. Thx again...
ur prob def sounds like firmware(especially if the advise the rest of those guys gave, did'nt work). http://www.americal.com/pg/dvd-burner-compat.html heres a link to update ur specific drive. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS... to update ur drive, & i think ur prob will be solved.
hey, its been awhile.... did u get ur progs working again? i use the same 2 progs u do, and this solved my problems, howabout u?
Go into device manager. Select your DVD drive. Se if there is a yellow astrisk beside it. If there is, right click on the name of the drive and select properties. In the small window within the General tab see if there is an error listed. If there is, note same, close out. In XP, click on Help. In the search window type error and what ever number you saw. Hit search. You should come up with an option to automatically correct your registry entries for media players. Click on same and sit back and let your registry be corrected. Go back in to Device Manager and see if the asterisk is still there - it won't be. Party on, Dude!
