With my university course on the horizon, I'm looking around at getting a large LCD screen to replace my good-performing, but nonetheless bulky Viewsonic G90 CRT. After having had a monitor that can do 2048x1536 for two years, I don't want to drop back much in the resolution department, so large is a must, no 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 for me thanks! I'm torn between two screens at the moment, the reasonably priced Viewsonic VP2030B, 20.1" 1600x1200 or the Dell 2407FPW 24" 1920x1200 widescreen. The Viewsonic costs £410, the Dell £625, so there's quite a difference. Is the difference worth it? I would like a large monitor, and the Dell's superior resolution and DVD playback capability makes me more interested, but would you pay the extra £215 if you could?
where do you live? in england? if you can get a good priced 2407 monitor ill can i buy it through you if its cheaper. anyway id go 2407 their very nice!! crystal clear. excellent and well worth every dime
Good, glad to hear that now I've gone and bought it! http://www.overclockers.co.uk has them for roughly the price I stated.
Well for US users, prices should be much better for you. http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=dl2407fpw&l=Nextag Look at that $699, I paid £630 for mine ($1200). That is what UK and US prices are like. I may use this thread to review the screen when it arrives.

Is that the one with the fold-out touchscreen? My brother's got one of those in his car, it's amazing. I've got my consignment number through now, so hopefully by tomorrow you'll see a picture of it in this thread.

Well the Dell is here, and I have to say I'm pleased with it. It runs straight from POST with the DVI cable, looks fabulous and gives a good image, both in Windows and UT2004. I won't load the picture here because it's just too big! LOL but I can give you the URL: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/34/1006196li8.jpg
