i just lost my dvd and dc drives can anybody help please? when i start up my pc the cdr and dvd rom drives appear but once windows xp is loaded, when i check my computer i dont see the drives, further checking in device manager ccd and dvd drives show with an ! mark. upon checking ,drivers it advises drivers ok but cannot dedect drives. this all started when i installed my ipod. i disconnected my usb cable for the ipod and no change. any suggestions, please help thank walter
You could try to do a rollback to the last known good restore point. It looks as though the IPod has interfered with the setup of the drives, IRQ settings etc... but don't expect any more in-depth on that one from this direction. Maybe try to disable the USB in the BIOS and reboot, see if this frees up the system resources to allow the CD and DVD drives to work again. If so, then you need to find a work around if you can't do a rollback. Otherwise, you could try to disable the CD and DVD drives, remove the IDE drivers if you are using a sata HDD and then reboot and reload the drivers.
