Help needed with Wireless adapter

    i was wondering how far can a wireless adapter for pc go and how far could it be to recieve the access point.

    on a regular linksys WRT54G router the distance is roughly a 100-150 feet. and thats gettin tight. your access point is as long as your in range. if thats not far enough or your going through alot of walls, then you;ll need range extenders which are antennas or linksys now offers a new wireless router which is about 100 dollars and can go double the distance with alot of power. circuit city has them for sure

    Fry's electronics has high amplitude ones that are a bit more expensive, but from what I understand, can extend effective range between 500-1000 ft. I could be off with these numbers, I haven't looked closely, and I can imagine there being some issues with this sort of thing. But it's worth looking at. Just make sure your network is secure, if someone leaches and steals pirated materials on your connection; YOU can be held responsible, even if you didn't do it. Extending your range can be scary stuff.
