    Hello,
I'm attempting to burng "mystic river". It says on the back of mystic river that it is dual layer. I've tried twice burning and both times made coasters for myself. I used dvdshrink to back it up on my harddrive. I used Cdburner XP pro both times to burn it. The burn process completes successfully each time, but when I open the disk on my dvd rom drive or on my dvd player it gets an error on the player and just opens a folder on the computer and wont open in the dvd rom player. Help before i make a third coaster :(

    thanks for the reply :)

    its a video_ts folder....

the site i downloaded it from said it was capable to make dvds..

i have a rather naive question since i asked my first....do i need a "dual layer" blank dvd and "dual layer" dvd writer to make this from? i know the cd is "single" and im not sure about the writer...

    :)

Use this guide to burn the Video_Ts folder with ImgBurn
    http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1779

No u do not need a DL disk to burn an original DL movie, thats what dvd shrink is for, to make the DL movie fit to a SL(4.7g) disk,

Now to burn a DL disk u have to have a DL Burner.

any other questions just post back, welcome to AD.

so if i take a dual layer disk, put it through dvdshrink, make a video_ts folder out of it, then use say 1click dvd to burn a dvd out of it...it should work right?

no im not using a ripping program....i just put the commercial dvd as u say into my dvd burning drive....open dvdshrink....it analyzes it....then...i 'back it up' on my harddrive...then..i opened 1click...put in the folder i wanted to make a dvd out of and hit burn...and for somereason it worked this last time...no idea why...whats the differance if i use a ripping program to take it off the commercial dvd or use shrink to back it up...its essencially the same thing isn't it?

Well if it is a newer movie then shrink will not be able to do it, becuz dvd shrink has not been updated for like 2 years so the newer movies have better protection that shrink cant break, and that is the reason why people rip with programs first, then use shrink.

but u can just use shrink for older movies, forgot u were trying to do Mystic River.

    Is this another burning program?
Why not try IMGburn, its a very good burning program

Also what brand of media r u using?

Can someone tell me whether CloneDVD will support dual layer DVD media. I have sent 2 e-mails to Slysoft support but they will not reply.
