I am converting DVD's to Xvid with AC3 audio using the guide on this site, everything is working fine except for the audio volume on the xvid encoded file is much lower when played than the original DVD. Is there some setting that I can use to increase the volume in the conversion process? Thanks
You are not alone in thinking that, generally all xvid/ac3 files have low volume and there really aint much you can do about it without transcoding and losing quality!
Im not sure if this works but couldnt you extract the audio as a wav file or something, punch it through a sound editor program, amp the volume and then use that outputed wav file to encode into the movie?
AC3 just seems to be lower volume, but it wouldnt be if you had a like a surround sound system! So mp2 audio is higher volume on regular speakers! However, the last thing suggested, i wouldnt suggest, the though of ac3 transcoding to ac3, it would loose the whole idea of ac3 sound!
