My friend has a old pc,it has 256 mb or ram ,60gig hdd (usings 44 gigs) 1.8 celron procsseor, and it lags so much, hes doesnt have spyware or adware and cleans his cpu daily but it lags so much, why,is there any way to fix it,also is it the hdd because of the space????????
well could but highly unlikely. First thing might sound like worsening it but DO AN antivirus scan full system could take hours on that pc right now but could identify the problem which means it could be a virus, download avg free edition see if that detects anyhting. Have you or him installed any programs that might have caused this? Check task manager and see all the apps that are using alot of memory and or procesor power. the ram might be starting to be an issuse bacuse as programs advance you might have installed a program that needed alot of ram and is slowing your computer down. this is beside the point but with 256mb ram you wont have a fast pc even with it running nothing and being 100% healthy! Recomend a ram upgrad after he solves the issue
umm well ya ill go to his place tomorrow and do a scan nope nothing big or anything ohh ya forgot bout task mangaer ya gunna try to clean his pc and take all the junk away the thing is hes really broke at the moment ,but i remeber my old pc had 128mbs or ram and it ran smooth...i thouight the harddrive was the problem
yeah if you can swing it go at least 512mb of ram whens the last time the machine has been reformatted? also run and post a HJT and a SmithfraudFix logfile
i was askin him to reformat it but ,he has like 25 gigs of his bros anime, and he has no dvd rw drive, lol i dont think he eve eformated b4
and thats been how long? since the machine been reformatted. good rule of thumb is to reformat at least once a year ,otherwise windows just gets bloated and things dont work correctly.
ohh lol,i usally reformat my pc once a year cause it gets f*****,lol is there any ways to reformat which saves ur system files like the updates andur info?
only thing you can do is backup the info to a floppy disc cd/dvd etc. or replace the hard drive with a new one and keep your info on the original HD
