I have just installed GKnot version 0.28 and after loading a .d2v file that it made with its own DVD2AVI, I tried to save and encode. It saved the .avs file but then returned an error "cannot determine filetype of" my .avs file when I told it to encode. I have successfully made many encodes with version 0.27 so I followed the same steps. I did several attempts with and without audio and so forth. I tried loading a .vob file directly into virtualdubmod and skipping GKnot altogether--same error from within virtualdub. Any thoughts?
Hmmm....try this Open notepad and type version and save the file with any name as long as you put in the .avs extension. Load the file into virtualdub and see if the program accepts it.
Virtualdubmod still gave same error. I named the file test.avi accidentally at first and then renamed it from dos with the .avs extension. Both extensions gave same error. The notepad document had only the word version no caps, no syntax, and nothing else. Was this the correct way to do it?
yeah that's correct. When you saved the notepad document as an .avs file, did the icon change from the usual notepad one to a different icon or did it stay the same?
Yes, the icon changed. BTW, does the file cmd32.exe have anything to do with Vdub or GKnot that you know of? Because I just remembered that it got infected with a virus and I had to delete it through DOS because its being used by Windows. And windows seems to be working properly so I havent bothered re-installing it. I tried finding that file on my Win98 CD but windows reported no such file. And I shouldn't have any more viruses--I check with symantec online.
Well im not sure about that file but reinstall gknot just in case and see if your avisynth files can be recognized.
already tried. I formatted over my harddrive to ensure nothing corrupt could remain, reinstalled windows, and no other apps. GKnot system pack 1.0, and GKnot 0.28. Same problem.
