    Hi,

I created a movie from pictures with effects, music, the works of my niece's wedding. Now I cannot get it to burn to a CD or DVD. When I click on it the extension says .mswmm
Can someone please talk me through how to get it where I can burn it to a DVD so she can watch it on her DVD player?

    Thanks

The problem with WMM is that it does not have an option to create DVD files. You will need another program to do that as The_Fiend mentioned. The program he mentioned is excellent!

First off, the.mswmm file is not what you want to convert to DVD. This is simply the file extension given to your saved project.

    So....

Let me give you a few tips on doing this.

    Open your project in WMM.

If it is completed and ready then it's time to save the movie in a format that is recognized by ConvertXtoDVD.

    Click File, upper left.
    Select "Save Movie File".

This opens the Save Movie wizard. Select the top choice. "My Computer". Select Next.

Give your movie a name and then choose a place to save it to. I recommend browsing to your desktop, making and naming a folder then using that as the destination....Easier to find that way!
    Click Next.

Here is the Movie Settings window. You have to tell WMM what format to save your movie in.
For this movie, use the "Other Settings" drop-down menu to choose an appropriate setting. Because you want to burn to DVD and then watch this on TV, then there are only a few choices. First, it has to be big enough to fit the screen, then it has to be in a file format that ConvertX recognizes.
Down at the bottom left you will see things like File type, Bit Rate, Display Size and Aspect Ratio.
I figure the best choice here is either "High Quality Video (NTSC) or DV AVI (NTSC). For this lets save it as an avi type. Select DV AVI. Once that is selected, Click Next.

This will start the encoding process which can be quite long, depending on the length of your video.

Once that is completed, your movie is now sitting in the folder, ready to be processed into DVD by ConvertX.

Please note the WMM does not really let you create a standard DVD. The display size is limited.

Let us know if you have ConvertX. We can go over it with you if you have problems. It's pretty easy though.
