please note that when i attempt to burn brandnew sony blank cds or dvds i get a error message that no media is found when there is blank media in drive thank you in advance
prehaps i should clarify i have problems with my burner anytime i put any type of medium in it skips and makes clicking sounds says there is no medium in the drive it was working until i took it to be cleaned what should i do
If you had taken it some place to get it cleaned and now it doesn't work, I would take it back and demand credit towards a new drive!
a-ha but not this particular time as i'd just got back from a short outing to the Marina's pub. Just checking thru my emails and just starting to watch An American Haunting, failrly quiet on Afterdawn tonight. @kimmie36 - forgot to mention, i teleported this thread here from the normal Linux forum, though it does sound like the drive needs to go back to 'the cleaners'
read the replies to my post i did not take the drive to be cleaned i did however take my notebook to a friend who removed a virus from it the dvd burner is a slimtype sosw-852s so maybe it does need new firmware
a-ha... ok, it depends on exactly which 'flavour' of LiteOn 852S you have. Have pasted this from here - http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html#SOSW-852S - - if you have Nero, run info-tool to verify the current firmware level then we can pinpoint which 'flavour' drive you have and can then see from the list above which firmware to recommend. If you don't use Nero you can download (free) just the info-tool program from here - http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroInfoTool_403.zip
creaky this is the error message i got when trying to mount /dev/hdc block device /dev/hdc is write proteceted mounting read only wrong fs type, bad option bad superblock on /dev/hdc missing codepage or other please do not ask me to tell you the type of liteon i have could not get that to work
