I am gettin pissed off! My xbox will not play any of my games, like last night I got brave and took the top off of it but didn't have the smaller size to go the rest of the way so i just cleaned all the dust and finally put it back together and after i couple trys it finally started playing. I left it on all night and this morning as i was in the middle of a level the damned thing froze up so i had to turn it off. Now it won't play anymore, it goes straight to the screen where you can do your memory or music and blah blah blah. It won't play at all, sometimes it says that its not an xbox disk and to try again. I have the dvd thing that plugs in as well but dvd's don't play, music cd's will play, Please someone tell me what to do. I have beat it to death today. Scared the pig and everything
Your DVD drive either crapped out or your lens is extremely dirty. Try using a lens cleaner disc and if that doesn't work, buy the torx bit you don't have and completely open it up to manually clean the lens and mirror. If that doesn't work, you'll have to get a replacement optical drive.
sounds like your xbox is getting old it could be dieing do as Venom5880 says if that dont work buy a xbox from cash converter or something
Thanks for the advice, I've used an older cd cleaner thing but I guess there all the same. Can I get the type of screwdriver thing at wally world? I don't care the take the sob apart what can it hurt. I say its just dying because its one of the first ones. made in 2003. They sure don't make things like they used to, a 3 year old xbox is dying when I have a ancient nintendo that still works, you have to give the games a good blow and beating but they'll work.
lol all good things come to a end my n64 just died a few weeks ago now im going to get a new one (preowned lol) good luck with the xbox
I have one of the original Xboxs (version 1.0) with a surprisingly functional Thomson drive. By all means, my Xbox shouldn't even be working still, but it is I'm one of the lucky ones that ended up with a Thomson drive that performs just as well as a Philips. But yeah, you should be able to find them at Wal-mart, probably as a complete set.
