So what happens, it's automatically logging you off after so much inactivity?

Windows will not log you out on its own. It only 'stands by' taking you back to the log on screen. You are not logged out at this time, all programs are still running.

You internet may disable itsself after periods of inactivity. This can be changed in the settings. What ISP do you have?

Edit: you may also try right clicking the desktop > properties > screensaver > adjust the timout there.

Now come on, that's not fair. Respectable 512k broadband only manages 200MB/hour or so, and what if the file is 1GB? I've downloaded files bigger than that before! As for the AOL browser comment, that's just random.
04alexdt, are you talking about windows logging off, or the windows network auto-disconnect feature?

@sammorris, Windows will no logoff by itsself due to inactivity. It will go on 'stand-by' and you will still be logged on, this is usually becasue of the screensaver. But reguardless, Windows will not automatically logoff. Therefore, it has to be his internet.

That's what I thought! You have to have some network administration tool to automatically log you off.

It's doing auto-standby, right thanks for confirming. Follow Nissan's advice, go into your control panel's power options and set the stand-by time to never.
