Could someone help me figure out why I'm not able to burn using Nero? I had been using with no problems until recently, when I upgraded and then reverted back to the previous version. I have uninstalled DVD Decrypter and DVDFab Express and Gold to see if that was my problem. Now, I'm getting the following error log. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Hello. I take it you are using the Copy Entire Disk option in Nero. Is this correct? If you are trying to copy a copy protected disk, this approach will not work. What is the source disk? Is it a commercial DVD? To backup a commercial DVD, see this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/390059
I have already burned it to my harddrive, now I'm trying to make a copy. I've tried both full disk and just the movie option and neither work.
Based on the info provided, I cannot tell what's causing the problem. What version of Nero is this? You may need to reinstall Nero. In the meantime try using DVD Shrink instead of Nero Recode and see if that works. Then we'll come back and try to find out what's going wrong in Nero Recode. Here's the link for DVD Shrink that autoburns with ImgBurn and Nero, as well as for ImgBurn. Install ImgBurn first. ImgBurn: http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download DVD Shrink: http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=423&ssid=0&did=7 Here's a guide for using DVD Dhrink. It's similar to Recode since the same person wrote it: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP WITH SHRINK.pdf For the target output, since we aren't sure what's causing the problem, select "Create ISO Image File." If that's successful, burn the ISO file with ImgBurn: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdburn/ Try the above and if that works, let us know and we'll go back and try to fix Nero or whateverelse is wrong.

There is a newer firmware, VPDE, for that HP specific Liteon burner here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1818 The media you are using is manufactured by CMC Mag, which is among the worst quality media manufactured. Also reset the target output size in DVD Shrink. Under the Edit menu, select Preferences... and then click the Preferences tab. Under the "Target DVD size:" menu, select "Custom" and then enter 4350 into the MB size box. Yu should do the same when using single layer disks with Nero Recode as well to prevent burning too close to the outer edge of the disk. It still isn't clear to me exactly what's causing the problem so we're investigating everything suspicious. It could be the media or it could be the burner itself. How long since you got a good burn from this burner? Is this the first failure you've had and is it with just this one disk? Have you tried burning any other disks lately? Does it burn CDs? Have you tried any -R or RW DVD media? It's obvious from the log, the burner had a difficult time. I don't think HP supports this burner with firmware updates any longer. In summary: Update the firmware. If you have some other brand of media, try that instead of the current media. Change the target output size. You might grab a RW disk for experimenting to avoid making a stack of coasters. Edit: text added below If you have access to another system, take the burner from your system and install it in the other and see if it works correctly there.
After downloading the newer firmware, it seems to be working. I'm currently using only DVDShrink and Nero. Thank you, laddyboy, for all your help!!
