hey i tryid to install the sims 2 and it was on 59 percent then a box poped up and it said "A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'E:/TSData/Res/sound/sfx1.package'from the media"
copy the entire disk into a folder on hd than install from that folder. check for scratches on the disk.
What's unfortunate is that it's most likely due to damaged media I always hate to be the one to have to tell someone this, but The only thing you can do is take it back and exchange it or contact customer support.Just take your reciept in and explain what happened and they WILL let you exchange it.There is no other fix I'm afraid.
As ddp was saying there is always a chance that it's just a hair line scratch and copying it will copy it to the hd correctly.I've had this work for me.Of coarse in order to do that one must have the proper software and the know how to get around the various protections.
