Hi, a simple question I'd imagine, but rather specific, which is why I couldn't find it in the search. I created a .txt file manually with the following format

    subtitlenumber hh:mm:ss:ff hh:mm:ss:ff dialoguedialoguedialoge

    for example:

    32 00:14:12:20 00:14:17:08 I'll show you what I mean

However, I tried importing into a variety of subtitling programs, and none of them recognize the timecode. A friend tried it on his Encore and claims it works, but I'm limited to freeware/shareware. Any suggestions? (My aim is to eventually convert into a file readable by scenarist)

all right, sorry everyone, my mistake. Saved the text in Unicode and some software didn't like it. Changed to a slightly different format with excel:

    hh:mm:ss:ff hh:mm:ss:ff
    Texttexttext

and then saved in utf-8. Seems to work ok with some tweaking.
