i bought a pre-owned version of half life 2: episode 1, last week from my local game store. i didnt really bother about it as i also got quake 4, F.E.A.R, & guild wars. i tried to play it tonight & installed steam. when prompted for my cd=key, i entered it & recieved an e-mail from steam before it finished activating it. in the e=mail it says that the cd-key i entered has been activated by someone else. i seen something on a site that lets you play the game without steam, but i cant find it. anyone know what i can do? can i play this game even though someone has already activated it? i would appreciate some help as i dont want to take the game back to the shop, as i only paid £8 for it. thanks
...eh, wrong thread. You could also use a no registration reg key. That's what I used for HL 2 and CS.
non steam patch is the only way. I'll get you a key genorator for all steam games if I can find it again.

The no steam patch and a key gen are 2 totally different things.Steam will reject any invalid key that isn't in it's database.So any key gens are not likely to work and if they do it won't be for long.Also the key are unique from product to product(one game may have a 10 digit key while another may have a 16 digit/letter combo)Thus there is no key gen for all of the steam games

For episode one they're harder to find.A regular half life 2 one may very well work.Here iss the regular half life 2 one.There are others on this site as well.Be sure to install it correctly or it will not work... [removed]
@creaky I talked about this via pm with ddp.This is not a crack,it will not make your game run without the cd or anything of such.It's not a key gen either as explained before.You can't play a used steam game without some sort of fix like the no steam patch. It effects non-pirates.
