I downloaded Scorpion King (exact name The.Scorpion.King.DivX.DVDSCR-aNBc.avi)from Kazza, and I try to watch the movie on several players (Win med player, Groxter player, GDiVX Player, ETC) I get sound but no video. or it says that the file is not supported. I tried to convert it to MPEG1 using TMPGEnc and it wouldn't read the file. I tried to use Gspot to check it and it said it needed a Video codec. since I am new at this I don't know which one it needs for it to work, if any one can help please let me know.

Well, since you didnt tell us the name of the codec the movie needed im going to assume that its the divx codec(The.Scorpion.King.DivX.DVDSCR-aNBc.avi)

You can download the divx codec from this site:
    http://www.divx.com/divx/

If it doesnt work reply here again and tell us the codec gspot referred to._X_X_X_X_X_[small]Life is but a dream...so wake me up already!!![/small]

If You are intending just to view videos with no encoding You could try FFDshow. It has preview support for many codec such Xvid and divX
