My laptop dvd burner won't recognize blank dvds anymore. It plays recorded ones just fine and CDs, just not blank DVDs. I've tried 4 different brands of disks and nothing.
Does anyone know what I should do?

What brand/model is your laptop's dvd burner? Maybe it needs to update the firmware in order to read new blanks due to new MID. Firmware plays a very important role when it comes to media, it (firmware) helps to increase the burning process and media compatibility.

    ^^ what he said.

Are the discs 16x? If so, you're not alone. A lot of members here had problems initially recognizing them. Once the firmware is updated, problems ceased.

SWEET! Indeed these are 16X disks when I was using 8X before. I wasn't even aware this would make a difference. I just tried one with 8X and it worked just fine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This has been a very frustrating experience.

I did try to reload my firmware. Downloaded it and when I went to run it, it said I didn't need it and wouldn't load it. I have a Toshiba burner, BTW. So at least I can burn with 8X.
