hi there all u after dawn fans, ive just finished building my new system and am having a problem. When i boot up all goes fine until it gets to the Windows Me loading screen, then it shuts down. when i boot into safe mode all is well. I think it may be that my PSU is not powerful enough as me vid card has a min system requirement of 400W but my PSU is only 350W. Ive stripped the system to its minimal required parts e.g no ports only 1 hdd, vid card CUP ram and fans and still the problem persists. As i said OK in safe mode, hang in reguler. I do think its the PSU am i right or could it be somthing else.
it could b heat or psu since while in safe mode it requires less gpu power making it stable while xp uses more gpu power but since the psu isnt giving it it may crash
My PC is as follows: Asus A8N SLI SE AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 FeForce 7600 GT 1Gb RAM 350W PSU 1 HDD 7200 1 DVD RW
jaw drops and ure running a 350w psu!!!! im impressed it even turns on ure prblm is psu get at least a 450w psu
yeah pritty perthetic i know but i thought it would do the job for a short period of time as its the PSU that came with the case. U know what thought did dont you!!!!!
OK, I have to ask. Why are you running ME? It was one of the worst OS's ever built. And for future reference, the standard PSU that comes with a case makes a great door stop......thats about all its good for. They typically dont put out clean power and they are not very efficient. Good luck getting her running. ~Rich
Well i dont plan on using ME as my os i was just borrowing a drive off a friend so that i could run basic tests on the build while i was waiting for my Western Digital drive to arive. I plan to run XP Pro then Vista once i know the setup is AOK.
