I didn't go out to buy them yet (football Sunday), so save some for me. You should pick them up because there are some Fujis that are Taiwanese made. Make sure the shrink wrap or discs says MADE IN JAPAN (~Taiyo Yuden). http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=4274779&type=product&cmp=++&id=1051384309197
Got one today with a $5 off Reward Zone coupon. Final cost was $1.99 for 50 MIJ TY disks! They had plenty this morning; no problem.
Are you sure these are TYs? I bought some of these also (the ones with the slanted "CDR" logo) and the "Taiyo Yuden" ID doesn't show up when I check the discs with Nero CD Speed (as it does with my other MIJ Fujis) - on these the manufacturer ID doesn't register at all...
Mine are TYs - I didn't realize that the Manufacturer ID only shows up if the disc has been burned. DOH!
Have not burned any yet. According to CD DVD Speed the Mfgr is "Taiyo Yuden"; the MID code reads as "97m24s01f", it will probably change after burning as you mentioned. The disc has "FUJIFILM" and a logo centered at the top. It has "CD-R" left of the hole and "80Min 700MB" right of the hole. Both of these have a tilt, sort of like italics. Guess that is what you are speaking about. I feel fairly sure they are TY discs.
I was sure they were TYs because I was in Best Buy that Saturday and saw MIJ on the labels. I managed to grab the last 2 spindles yesterday. They were in yellow wrap and the wrapper says 'Made in Japan'. So does the disc face on the lower right corner (if there is such a thing on a circular disc). CompUSA also has Fuji 48X CDRs for $6.98 this week, but I suspect those are Taiwanese since they have different sku #s. http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...=200120&product_code=333952&Pn=48x_CD_R_Media
What area are you in - I went to Best Buy today (in Massachusetts) and they only had Taiwan Fujis and no sale. Also the Comp USA around here doesn't carry Fuji's anymore... bummer. I got my MIJ Fujis at FYE last week ($9.99 for a 50 pack).
I plan on buying 8 spindles lol, my Best Buy only carries MIJ for now but probably not for long so I'm stocking up. I found one tonight that was Fuji made in Malaysia. Who makes the Malaysian Fuji CD-Rs?
