Hello, I have a problem with my dvd-rom drive while burning or just every once in a while it will make a noise like a electric buzzing. I have had two drives in this computer since I built it and they have both made that noise.I sort of think it's not getting enough power. I dont know though and I decided to post here and see if anyone else has had any problems like this.Also the drive is not hot. I dont think its burning up I have put my hand on it while burning and just sitting idle and it is not overheating i dont believe.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks edit PS: sorry I'm not sure if this is the right section or not all the dvd sections are a little confusing to me.
Unplug your compter and take off the cover. Look to see how well the drive is mounted, there should be simple thumb screws or maybe phillips-head screws. It could be vibrations from the drive spinning that are causing the metal in your case to buzz and in turn make that zapping nose you're hearing. From what you described it doesnt sound like a power issue.
Thanks for the reply, I think that was the problem because I switched cases since then and it has quit doing it.
