I'm new to the forums, so I hope I's posting my question in the right place. If not, perhaps the moderator can move it or suggest an alternative. If an AVI file was produced with a CanonMVI03 codec, how likely is it that the camera used to capture the video was a Canon of some type? Is there a resource that can provide this type of detail?

avi codecs can be used by any program. even a dvd rip. but if it is a home video type movie file, then its most probable that it came from a canon camera.

Thanks very much, Sonda. I believe that your are correct. I did more research, and I understand that the CanonMVI03 is actually the software (not the codec) used to prodfuce the video/audio file.
