I would be very grateful for some advice please. I have a PC which has suffered heat damage. The PSU has been replaced and it runs but is still very flakey. It has a 1.67G Athlon XP 2000+ on a MSI MS-6380E 1.0 Mobo. GoldMemory (free version) shows lots of memory errors. I have proved by substitution that the RAM is OK. So, my question is, is it possible to determine whether the problem is with the cpu or the board? Is there any (free!) diagnostic which might help? And finally, can anybody recommend a page with hints and tips which will help an elderly idiot to do the rebuild? Thanks - Mike
take a look at the can shaped objects on the motherboard as these are capacitors. these are supposed to be flat topped, are any of them domed?
