I have some high-end stereo equipment, at home and in my truck. I was wondering what was the best audio format for ripping my cds into Itunes, so that all my music sounds as good as the original cd? Or do I even use iTunes to rip my cds? Is there a better program to use? Do I choose mp3,aac,aiff,wav, or apple lossless? I want the best quality sound possible for my own CDs on my iPod.

To get the best sound possible you need to use a lossless format, or change the bitrate to something higher then 128kpbs. A CD is recorded in the 900kbps range, so you can see there is a pretty big loss of data there. I would suggest using a program other then iTunes to rip your CD's as well. I personally like the EAC [Exact Audio Copy] program that you can find for download here on AfterDawn.
