my burning drive is an LG DVD-RW and it works just fine. Execpt that it wont detect anything. Im not sure if this is a software or hardware problem. When ever insert a disc, the drive blinks for a while but nothing else, it just sits there. However, my other dvd-rom drive is working just fine. please help, thx.

Hi i have an Lg and this happened to me - seems pretty common problem..

Try unistalling your dive and then rebooting pc. If this doesn't work then post your drive make/modle for more help.

Windows Xp will find it as "new hardware" when you reboot and will auto install.

HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4161B by LG which doesnt support it. I found the driver update on an HP website.

Hmm i did a little digging around and i found that firmware for that drive was non exsistent. I knew Lg didn't support it; but i didn't think anyone had brought out Firmware for it...

Can i have the link to the firmware you found plz and I'm looking at other firmware's which might work on your drive.

Eg. I think the firmware for the GSA 4160B is compatible wih your drive, however dont go and flash it with that untill you've got back to me :)

    **Edit: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...softwareitem=ob-40563-1&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Is that where you got it from? - if so then that's the official firmware for your drive**

Ok have you checked that your jumper cables in the back are right - eg: set to master?

    Get back to me...
