ok now im really confused my dvd drive has 5 places where u can put the jumper its not like my hard drive or the picture in the link u just sent me ( i would take a picture but i cant install my moms kodak software because her dvd drive dont work lol its all connected)
OK right sorry let's forget the link i posted then Well there is usually a label on the back of the drive indicating the master/slave etc settings and all you do is put the plastic bit onto master pin. Get back to me - sorry for unclarity...
Ok so CSm sounds like Cable select, SLA is slave so 54321 must be your master jumper - put the plastic plug thing on that one and then make sure you connect the master IDE cable connector get back to me
all right !! i got that part done now where do i put the little thing that make 2 connecters one when i took it off it was on the last one but my moms been messin around with it so i dunno if thats the right place she said she moved it from where it used to be and she doesnt no where it used to be
ok ok wait i got my normal cd drive and it says that the first one is the master ill try that brb in like 10 mins
Ok so for example this is your mobo The Master IDE cable goes in the IDE connector. And the power one (the smaller one) goes in the four pin socet on your drive and the appropriate fitting place on your motherbaord. get back to me
ok i got it installed the right way im pretty sure but it only reads it as a cd drive and when i put cds in it the mouse arrow has a cd next to it but it doesnt load its reading the drive but its not reading anything i put in it
Ok now that you've got it installed properly lets try upgrading you firmware, post your model of your drive here Btw how many drives do you have in Pc atm - only one? Get back to me
ok i have one dvd drive that i just install the floppy(as usual) and 2 hard drives its a PIONEER DVD-RW DVD-104 thats what it says in properties i dont have the box anymore oranything like that because my moms computer friend installed it for like 30 dollars without a box or manual or stuff like that
Ok a little info about your drive. Apprently it wont read Dvd+r or +rw disks only -r/-rw. That might be a thing to consider - i read that here for your own satisfaction... http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=102032 [bold]Your drive supports:[/bold] DVD-ROM single layer/dual layer DVD-R (all types) DVD-RW CD-ROM Mode 1 CD-ROM XA Mode 2 (form 1, form 2) CD-TEXT Photo CD (single & multiple session) CD-DA (Audio CD) CD-Extra CD-R CD-RW (Support AM2) Here is the latest firmware for your drive that you want to upgrade to http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Pioneer/Pioneer-DVR104-firmware-19.shtml Get back to me...
ok well now it says it has found 1 target device do you want to update i said yes and it says current firmware not supported by this program and i press ok no drive has been accomplished to update and i press ok and then its done
Right well ok. Answer the question about the disks - are you using dvd +r's or not? Try this firmware: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Pioneer/Pioneer-DVR-A04-104-firmware-133.shtml Get back to me...
