Buy a PS2 controller and then one of those PS2 to USB controller adapters.

Adapters are fine but they won't feel like a console and most publishers and devs don't support them.

For games with gamepad support I recommend you looking at my guide in my sig.I recommend a logitech dual action or even microsofts 360 usb controller.

I've never had a problem with PS2 to USB being supported. To the PC it looks like a standard USB joypad/joystick.

The XBOX controllers are a little diffrent because they use the USB interface just with a diffrent end plug.

Good luck with that.Devs don't support adapters for the most part.It has to be programed within the game or it is NOT directx input compatible and will feel like crap lol.Emulation is NOT native gamepad support!

The logitech dual action is $20 and is supported by all the devs on the gamepad list.Sure you could buy an adapter that will come with emulation software and aim like sh!t but wouldn't it be easier to just get the real gamepad for 20 bones and not have to worry about it?

The logitech dual action looks exactly like a ps2 controller...and for xbox360 fans the 360 usb controller is great too.
