My sister bought a 1 gig stick of PNY ram.
for some reason when i check properties under my computer.
it only shows 992 MB of ram. I think it suppose to say 1gb of ram.
Is there somthing wrong with the ram. It is PNY :( and all.
or does it just do that sometimes.

    Thanks
any advice would be greatly appreciated

There's nothing wrong with the stick. It's just that something is using it, maybe your antivirus program. For example: I have 2 256 MB sticks, but only showing 504 RAM. This is becasue NOD32 is using 8 MB of the 512.

treezy, reduce sig to 5 lines max.
    1. Text-only signatures should have at most 5 lines of text

@ddp, no, my onboard video is not using 8 MB.

When I bought this computer it always showed 512 MB. Then, when I was using Panda Antivirus+Antispyware 2006 it was always showing 504 and sometimes 503. When I switched to AVG Free it showed 512 again. Now, I'm using NOD32 and showing 504 MB.
