    Hey,

Im "doing up" my sisters laptop. She has a Compaq NX9005. Now after doing a little of my own research on:

    http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/notebooks/0,39023984,39117118,00.htm

    And other sites she needs:

    200-Pin PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SODIMM

    Is that right?

So therefore i was thinking of getting this:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/106052

She needs it for word processing and browsing the internet. And of course 256mb really isnt enough! But with that processor well lets face is it is OK. I think shel be fine!
    What do you guys think?

hi, before you buy any of those modules go to www.hp.com and find your sister model and check the memory compatibility list.. because compaq pc´s and notebooks run only with a few memory brands..

I'd tout this at the moment. http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/39703
Admittedly comptibility needs to be checked (and hp don't make it easy for you!) but I'd have thought if there's one brand that's compatible with HP laptops it'd be Kingston...

Nahh ive already opened it up. And theres clearly a place for another DIMM. So hopefully all will be good!

So i forgot to ask you guys:

    The Compaq NX9005

With a 768Mb Of ram (Done that in my head)

Is that worthy of browsing the internet and word processing??

Well yeah, but it would be with only 256MB of RAM. If that's all it's for are you sure you need more memory?

Its really not. Its a lot slower than what youd think. So my plan of action is:

Backup data . Scan it with a Anti virus prog.

Install ram.. see how it goes any noticecable improvement.
    If not:

    Format hdd
    Install windows again
Change some basic settings to make it faster.

And then hopefully itl be running spik and spam!

Then i reap the benefits from my parents..

Hehe my birthday is coming up and wanna get the best present a can squeese out of them! A 360 with a few games is in order me thinkks! haha
