Anyone know life expectancy of Lite-On Dvd Burners?

    I have both the SHM-16H6S and the SOHW-812S...the first one is the the newer drive but it not working now...only had it for 5 months...the second drive is older and lasted a year and a half...anyone know what the best lasting drives are since I understand Lite-On builds drives for a few of the name brands?

    Lite-On drives are usually v good - however i do not own one (LG all the way :p)

    Anyway, you say the newer one does not work. If you still have it, then what exactly is the problem? Bad burns, not recognising media? Might be fixable :)
