I have been using Avi2dvd to encode my Avi files. I have tried 3 times to encode movies with their subtitles using QuEnc and NuEnc. The audio and video are top-drawer but the subtitles stop showing about 3 minutes before the end of the movie.(19 lines to be exact.)

I'm relatively new at this and I want to know if this is a common problem or am I missing a step in the process?

I hardcoded a copy with subs and it worked fine, though the AV was out of synch.

How important is authoring? What is it, and could this be my problem?

    Thankx.

Well it seems that the subtitle time didn't go all the way to the end of the movie. I inserted two lines at the very end stating 'produced by' and 'the end'. The last line I let run one second longer than the movie and everything was okay for the subs during the movie, though it didn't show the last two lines so I don't think this can be the proper solution but if it works I'll take it. I'll let you know as to it's consistancy after I try it a couple more times.

Anyone want to tell me if I just got lucky and what I might do in the way of a proper solution?

Okay, it didn't go so well the second time. Twice I tried it with a second movie and no dice. The last 8 lines of the movie don't show on the playback.

    *scatches head*
