    Here the sitch,

I've got a 710 mb AVI file that I want to burn. My problem is getting a decent file size.

When I tried using MPGEnc 2.5, the projected size of the MPEG was 3.3 Gigs. That's crazy.

I tried using NERO to encode but the quality was total shit.

Basically I need tips on how I can get a decent sized MPEG from a 700mb AVI file.

Are there any versions of TMPGenc that do a better job than others?

Could the huge file size be due to the frame-rate in the source AVI file?

What is an average size that you'd expect when encoding a 700mb AVI file with TMPGenc? Why is mine so high!!!??
    any help would be great

it sounds like you are encoding it to be a Mpg2(svcd) make sure it is a mp1(vcd) format...

no, i was trying to make an MPEG1, normal vcd. I think the problem was with the version of TMPGenc.

I downloaded the newest version and am getting much better results with a 700mb avi becoming about 1100mb mpeg. Perfect!
