Swap Magic 3.6 with Action Replay Max for PS2

yeah I tried pulling the memory card trick too, but swap magic never loads whenever I try it.

I was under the impression that the Neo Key was supposed to make it so you could just throw in your backup when AR asks you to put in your game. But all I get is a quick disc check, and then AR gives me the "make sure your PS2 game is inserted" message.
Maybe the cog trick would be useful in my situation?
#77 30 Nov 2005 @ 1:05
yeah, you might as well give it a try and see what happens, and i dont think you should be putting any backups in while using ar max. only swap magic should be used in ar max. the only way you could use backups in ar max is if you had a mod chip.

you have to have the network disc that comes with the slim PS2..or the one that you get with the old network adapter...and you can use your EA online account whenever you want to....your friend is talking out his a**......don't suck it in too far you may start to think like him/her!!

any body no how to boot ar with a game on the hard drive

It seems that the cheats I select with the AR max evo don't work on all the backup games on my modded ps2. It is strange as with some games it works perfectly and some doesn't. So could it be that the problem is that the ps2 memorycard is in the ps2 while loading the game with the selected cheat??

With the game "shadow hearts 2" I select the max cash cheat and it works when I start a new game. But after a while when the story evolves my cash goes back to 1000. I start the cheat again with the save game but the money stays at 1000 and doesn't go to max. Does it mean the cheats only work when you start a game and not in the middle of a game? Please help me, does anyone has experience with this?

it could be many diffrent factors, it could be the cheat codes themselfs. and maybe has nothing to do with the mod chip. try using a diffrent max money cheat code and see if you get the same effect.

There is no other cheatcode for max money. Did you ever tried using a cheat while loading a saved game?
#85 03 Dec 2005 @ 3:33
no, becasue i dont have this game, i was only trying to come up with idea why it wont work, and that would be the first thing you should check, to see if the code is valid.

If you have a backup of the action replay max, how can you use this with a usb pendrive? I want to download a Max Drive Save file and use this on my ps2. How to do this? Can i just use any usb drive and copy the save file to it and insert it then to the ps2?

The AR Max Evo works well with the swap magic 3 plus. I can play all DVD-R PS2 games. I can even save datas to my AR 8 mb memory card. But the prob with that method it's that the code you have put manually won't work. For example, the AR MAX Evo has already all the cheat codes for the Onimusha 3 game and all of them work perfectly when I load the game. In the other hand, when there are games like Resident Evil 4; Soul Calibur 3, or even Tekken 5 all in NTSC US versions that the AR Max Evo doesn't have the cheat codes for these games and you have to insert them manually either by going to the website http://www.codejunkies.com/ in US section to search for them or by downloading them. And it seams that the codes I put in won't. Althought AR MAX Evo accept them and that the game could run after using the method of AR MAX Evo + Swap magic disk 3 plus. But still, the cheat codes didn't load (like infinite time, infinite money, all standard characters, etc.) So, could someone please tell me how to make the cheat codes that we insert manually work?

Hi, i'm have an older ps2, and i have the swap magic 3.6 and i'm trying to use the action replay max to load codes but i'm having some trouble. I have tried various methods previously stated. first i load the actin replay, get the codes i want then load the swap magic dvd, then i load my game but it always just goes to the black screen and stays there. ?? can anyone suggest a solution?

Yeah if you get stuck at a black screen with AR MAX EVO + 3.6 SWAP PLUS..

the only solution i can tell you that works is, Loading with only 1 CODE activated.

you cannot load more then 1 code. if you do the screen goes blank after you switch it out.

i tried on various games with just 1 code on, and it goes through fine.

you only do this if the game is a rebuild becasue when AR MAX puts the code in internal memory on the PS2 the part that it loads to the DVD rom game is not there as the game has been rebuilt, thats why the DVD R media stops loading after you booted swap magic with codes enabled. and i did mentioned to enable 1 code at a time for rebuilt games before. maybe thats why the game wont load, becasue the game is rebuilt.

remember to remove the memory cards, it's the only time it should be in the PS2 is when you are loading the codelist. even then this method is not guaranteed to work with fatty PS2's and i cant make a method for fatty PS2 becasue i dont have one. if you really want a ar max that works with all backups check out 3dluis guide it tell you how to make a AR MAX that works with swap magic 100% but it's only for NTSC games not PAL and you need a orignal ISO of AR MAX for it to work.

i dont understand your problem because i have entered loads and loads of codes manually and also used the auto update feature in AR MAX and all those codes worked fine with all the games i played. either you are entering them wrong/entering M code wrong or to use the auto update feature within AR MAX. check the codes again when entering them, and check if they are rebuilds or not.

Ok, i have the original ARMAX EVO, and i have a backup, these are the steps i take with the two:

ORIGINAL ARMAX EVO:
1.ARMAX EVO (Load codes for game)
2.SWAP MAGIC 3.6 DVD Version
3.BACKUP DVD GAME

BACKUP ARMAX:
1.SWAP MAGIC 3.6 CD Version
2.ARMAX EVO (Load codes for game)
3.SWAP MAGIC 3.6 DVD Version
4.BACKUP DVD GAME

However i do it, i either end up getting to a black screen, or i return to the browser for 2 seconds then the red screen where it says please insert a valid ps2 or ps1 game disk.

you forgot a main basic step remove the memory cards!!

i will explain the steps again:

step 1:

load AR max EVO with memory card inserted in

step 2:

press X to load codelist (while this is happening take the front tool out of slim (tool A) to stop AR MAX EVO CD from spinning and put in swap magic, after you have done this put the front tool back in and the DVD will start spinning again)

step 3:

go to selected game and enable codes.

step 4:

press X and it will save to memory card

step 5:

when it says 'loading game' with black background take out memory cards immediately, all of them!

step 6:

now you should be at the swap magic menu, the swap magic DVD should stop spinning, put in backup and press X (do not press square!)

step 7:

now the game should load with codes enabled put in memory cards when asked, and continue your game as normal.

backups of AR MAX do NOT work with swap magic, only mod chips will load direct backups of AR MAX, unless you are using 3dluis guide to make special AR MAX EVO for swap magic, it won't load any other way!.

i think i am going to do a picture guide at some point. lol

I actually have a question:

I can get AR to work perfectly, with Swap magic. But how do I get massive code lists to load them all onto Action Replay. Like download a code list for AR on my USB hard drive then load them into AR. Is there a certain file that does this?

It would take forever to manually enter codes, and the AR MAX doesn't always update all the game or downlod new ones thourgh the updater.
