No, you MUST patch NFSU to play online, and yes it should still work with the Magic 3.0. My modchip also does not go to sleep and it works fine.
DO NOT use the Machine ID Changer unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing. It is not required to play games online. All you need is the DNAS image patcher, which is available from the link below (account required, free). Just get the ID code off the original NFSU CD and then patch it into the backup image and burn.

The Disc ID Utility gets burned to a CD and lets you get the codes on the PS2.
The other utility patches the images on windows.

Umm too many people is..more then 2....
Think about this, if they banned people for using the same DNA$ on a small scale, they'd run into problems. Blockbuster comes to mind....people rent games there....they play online....they give the dvd back...other people play with the same dvd....
Just some ideas for you guys

There's really no need to worry about getting banned anymore, the ps2 machine id changer is out.

if any of u have downloaded the new socom patch ull notice that u can no longer have 2 people using the same id at one time when u try to log into your name it will tell u that another user is currently using ur unique id i found out today when i got the new patch because i lent my friend the original socom 2 disc and i was gunna play against him using my backup and that message came up... just thought id let u guys know

did socom 2 with splinter cell 2 id
got passed DNAS then got a message that was warning me
to stop using a cheating device? or i will be banned.
tried second time got banned for an hour.tried third time got banned for 3 hours.
i own an original copy of SOCOM 2 and want to play online with another sony in the house. should i use the same ID for the same game when playin on the same network cause i can get online with a burnt copy just not with the splinter cell ID.
has ANYONE got a message about a cheating device?

btw its only the ID gettin banned cause i can get banned on my burnt copy with the splinter cell ID
and put in my original copy right after and play online no problem.

yea i can use my original socom 2 online but on a ps2 that is not modded but using a burned copy of socom 2 and the same disc id i get banned for using a "cheat device"

im wondering if its due to my modchip since it doesnt go into sleep mode (magic 3.0 - blue chip) does anyone with a dms3 or other chip with sleep mode get this cheating device error?

i just went online with my backup of socom II with patched DNAS and my matrix infinity turned on and got through just fine. everything went as it did beofre the patch was released.

Even though you may think your modchip is on, it's not. Most newer modchips going into sleep mode after loading the game, so they can then be undetected online. The chips once again become active when you press the eject button to insert another disk, or restart. Magic 3s do NOT have sleep mode, and that is probably causning you to not be able to get online with it on. You would have to add a switch to your PS2.. i guess it would sit inbetween the Power from the board and the power going to the modchip, so after loading a game, you would cut the power off. I think.. not sure, never had to do a switch.

i take that back... im banned for an hour. i never went actually played a round beofre but nwo after i did i got the message "you have been using a cheating device, etc etc"
so i guess they have gotten better. :(

Hi I'm banned two on PS-online i try using sleep mode on my chip but does't work. steel apering error -402
and I try removing chip but my MAC address is banned on server... what i can do????? any one know the way to be accepted on online server????

Hi, U cud change the ID of the actual ps2..It might work never tried it though. But the software is out there, dunno where either, soz but its ure best shot!

Is anyone having problem with F1 2004. I recently bought this and made a backup, used disc id util etc as i have done successfully with other games. However after patch the id onto image and burning onto disc the id appears as 00 00 00 00 00 when i look at it using disc id util? I am using DVD Decrypter and like I said have successfully made backups and played online - syphon filter and splinter cell.
