I just bought this Magnavox VHS DVD combo that is a DVD burner that will copy from VHS to DVD. I got it to copy my old tapes so that I would have the movies on DVD. It will not copy disney movies. Does anyone know how I can get it to do so?
Maybe this is in the wrong forum section, I didn't know where to put it.

You can't because of MacroVision protection. The only way to do this is to get standalone capture device and put a full frame TBC or Macrovision removal device (recommend TBC) between the VCR and capture device. Most USB capture devices just ignore Macrovision so that could also be an option.

I purchased this same machine about a month ago and have had to reset the clock and calendar at least three times. I don't dare even use the timer feature because for no reason the clock will jump ahead about six hours. Does anyone know what this is about or does anyone have the same problem? steph

I'm trying to record old VHS tapes to DVD using the dubbing feature. The tapes are copies of old (more than 8 years) tapes I rented. The first tape recorded to DVD with no problem, but since then the dubbing will only run for about 5 to 12 minutes then stop and give me a " Problem with recording code 25" message. Has anyone else had the problem?

Steph, I have this model. It has a daylight savings selection on it. I turned it off because I was having the same problems. Try that and see it that works. Also, some Magnavox models have an automatic time setting system -- somehow it synchronizes the clock to the one in Colorado -- the atomic clock that is accurate to 1 second every 10 years.

I have a separate vhs player, and I have it hooked up to the Magnavox dvd recorder. It usually works, except some children's movies - Stuart Little, Home alone, etc. There was a link, though, for a firmware update on this site. Is there one available for the magnavox, or can you recommend a macrovision removal device that can be used?? Thanks.

I don't know if that will work, unless the remote is a universal remote. Magnavox is owned by Funai Electronics, and it owns several other brand names: Philips, Funai, Magnavox, Sylvania. If the remote came with the TV set and it says that it is a universal, try looking up one of the other brands Funai has, and see if that works. What kind of TV is it (model number)?

Kudos to Mike Adams!! Above and beyond the call of duty!!
Mike, maybe you can help me. I bought the Magnavox MWR20V6 and have had no actual problems with it. However, there is one thing I can't seem to find a solution for. After recording to a DVD the segment shows up in the DVD menu as a 'title'. But the empty space on the disk also shows up as another title. I assumed that when I finalized the disk the blank space wouldn't show up in the menu anymore, but after finalizing it's still there as a non-playable title. I've gone through the manual several times but I can't find a way to get rid of the 'blank space title' that's in the menu. I'm supposed to be able to delete any title before finalizing, but 'blank space titles' don't have that editing option. Am I missing something simple, or have you found a way to do this?
Thanks for any help-----Bob Ryan.

Another problem. Editing chapters, either adding or deleting, only seems to have an effect when playing back on the Magnavox unit. After recording to DVD I added some chapters with 'edit' mode, then finalized. But when I played the DVD on someone elses DVD player the chapters I added were gone. The only time I can see the chapters I added are if I play back on my Magnavox recorder. I also tried the automatic chapter feature placing a chapter mark every five minutes. I then edited them and deleted every other chapter. After finalizing, I played the DVD in the Magnavox unit and the deleted chapters were gone. But when I play the DVD in someone elses DVD player the deleted chapters are back again! Anyone else notice this?

Thanks for the help Mike!! Unfortunately changing the REPLACE DISC MENU to 'ON' didn't change the results. After finalizing the 'unused empty title' still appears in the menu. I still have no idea what that feature is for.
Anyway, I've got an idea I'm trying right now. I'm recording about a half an hour of something, then I'll stop and then record a second 'title' right until the disk is saturated. I assume this'll give me 2 titles with no room for an 'unused title'. Then I'll go in and 'delete' the second title permanently, then finalize. I'm pretty sure titles written to a DVD+R that are deleted are basically hidden since they can't be re-written to. So hopefully after finalizing it shouldn't appear in the menu. I'll let you know the results after I'm done.
By the way, I was wondering if you saw my other post that I think might be an actual problem with the unit. Chapter markers that are edited into the title don't show up on other DVD players after finalizing. That's something that really needs to be addressed.
Anyway, thanks again----Bob Ryan.

Well, I'm happy to say my little trick worked! The last title saturated the disk, so there was no 'empty title' in the menu. Then I deleted the last title, finalized, and 'bingo', only one title showing up in the menu, on both the Magnavox and my other DVD player!
As Borat would say: "Great Success!"
Now if I can just figure out a way for the edited chapter marks to stick....

I've been having trouble all night trying to post in this thread. My first post wouldn't take until I posted a second post, then they both showed. I made a third post that also didn't show, so now I'm posting this, hoping it'll kick my third post up. If it does, it'll also show up. I'm also not getting any email notifications of these updates to this thread. Sorry for the redundancy!

Well, my last two posts don't show unless I click 'reply', then I see them. But if I log out and clear my cache, they're gone again. So, I'm gonna repeat the post that had the results of my test here, and possibly more times until the bloody thing shows up!! (Pain in the royal.....)

The posts I did last night are only visible after I log in, even after clearing out cache and rebooting. I just signed up under another name and I'm hoping that a post created by a different member name will kick the other posts in. So, this is a test!!

I need some help! I am trying to copy home videos from my digital camcorder to a DVD to send to my husband in Iraq. I have been able to record the DVD from the camcorder but now it will only play on the MWR20V6 and not any other player. What am I doing wrong?

Did you 'finalize' the disk yet?
