I have a hp photosmart printer connected via usb. When I start the system up, for some reason the printer kicks in and prints some rubbish about 'usb@$£$^$£'. Apparently it is a setting in my bios that needs changing. Hp are unable to help because they don't recognise my bios. It's a Packard Bell imedia 1328 pc with Santiago motherboard. Anyone any ideas?
easy solution dont turn printer on until the pc has got into windows. what settings does it say in the bios with regards to usb? legacy support, emulation, ect ect

At what point does the printer start to print this text (before or during the operating system startup. Is it during the POST sequence? Are you using Linux?
Sorry to interject, but did anyone notice this? That makes me laugh no end Look at the CPU temperature! I've not heard of a BIOS printing a setup page, although it sounds plausible. Is it possible to have the printer off during the BIOS, or with no paper in it? Have a browse through your BIOS settings and see if you can find anything about "printer test "or "test page" or something like that. If there is anything, disable it.

127 sounds like the maximum supported by the instruction information, so the temperature sensor's probably either failed or isn't connected. 79C for a CPU, "ok" or not is very hot, and afaik prescotts thermally throttle down at 65, so they'll run slowly.
