hey guys, i have a sony cybership dsc-w1. its a pretty nice camera, but i dont think im getting the most out of it. there are all these different picture settings- people, outside, outside with light, and like 6 more. i can change ev and all of that too, but im not sure what all of it means. one thing i want to be able to do is take an up close picture of a flower or something and have the focus just on the flower and the background all blurry. and i cant really get any good pictures at night time. anyone know what i can try? thanks!

With my Canon A40 I use "macro" mode to get closeups. You must have a similar mode on your Sony.

See if you can set up the camera in Manual mode and try setting the ISO to high speed. That will usually get you a night shot..but with these handy cameras, night shots arent yet mastered.
