Every time I start games, it crashes with blue screen of death - BAD_POOL_HEADER error. I've got Windows XP, 512mb RAM, on SP2. Driver - NVidia GeForce FX 5600. I've updated the drivers. No luck. I think the problems started last week or two when I tried to play a cracked game. Virus? I've scanned with Norton for any viruses - nope found. I even scanned with Spybot and Ad-Adware, again nope found, just cookies. Finally, my computer seem to be really slow, I've checked for any strange processes via CTRL+ALT+DEL, nope strange. I've done a Hijackthis log:- Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 02:06:40, on 02/10/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Ahead\InCD\InCDsrv.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RunDll32.exe C:\Program Files\Thomson\SpeedTouch USB\Dragdiag.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTBR~1.0\Bin\INSTAN~1.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Keyboard\type32.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Mouse\point32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\NOKIAP~1\LAUNCH~1.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\PcSync2.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\PCSuite\Services\ServiceLayer.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\Nokia\MPAPI\MPAPI3s.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Console\NSCSRVCE.EXE C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\Clue\Clue.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\AUpdate.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUCOMS~1.EXE C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Documents and Settings\~x~Natalie~x~\Desktop\HijackThis.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuCallbackProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe R1 - what type of games and do u get to the menu of the game then crash or just crash when u try opening it
It crashes when I start playing. It loads fine without problems. When I get to the menu, it runs fine. When gameplay started, it crashed every time. It varies with games, it includes high CPU useage like The Sims 2 or low CPU useage such as Monopoly. Thank you for your fast reply.
I'm not an experinced computer user, can you explain how to boot in safe mode and what to do, please?
Looked it up on Google. And thank you! It successful restored to September 20th when the cracked game was installed. Now testing with a game. CD ROM have been playing up at the moment. Throw the PC out the window the easiest way?
OK, tested it. No luck. I left it to do memory dump or something like that. Then it asked me if I want to sent an error report to Microsoft, I click OK. It says the error were down to C-Media Audio Driver (cmaudio.sys. Even though I doubt that. I read somewhere that conflict in drivers can affect mouse funcation, I'm having problems with mouse too. It keep jumping and websites keep jumping to the bottom. What do you suggest that I do next? Try to reinstall C-Media Audio Driver and see what happens? Thank you so much for helping.
I removed C-Media Audio and it worked. But I'm getting graphics glitches now. It's Q-Tech P4MKI (EP-P4MKI)
