I'm not a Harman Kardon fan. I don't like the looks of them, and I've seen where a lot of folks are having problems with them.

The Pioneer you linked to, says it has no s-video inputs/outputs. But it says it does s-video switching. How can you switch it, if you don't have inputs/outputs? Weird.

The Sony also has no s-video inputs/outputs, so you still won't be able to use anything with s-video. You didn't link to a Yamaha, and I didn't look it up.

Just read what kind of inputs/outputs the receiver has. Digital and analog. How many it has. If it has DTS, DTS ES, DD EX, etc., capabilities. 5.1 discreet inputs (if you want to hookup dvd-a or sacd player), banana plug speaker terminals are nice to have, and maybe a phono input, if you have a turntable.

Pioneer, Sony, Yamaha, Denon, and of course JVC, are good brands to check out. Just pay attention to the features and specs.........
    Good luck!
