are you planning on using your old motherboard, and if so, what socket is it? If you're just looking for a single part for a new build, then i say go for the the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 which is 315 at newegg Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003 . But to be able to run this, and run it well, you'll probably need ddr2 ram and if you're a gamer, a pci express video card.

sukhvail, what kind of answer is that ?
For all we know, he could have an AMD.

@ qwerty86: we'd need to know what your current system specs are, like, what kind of mobo, RAM, videocard, what type and brand of CPU, etc.

Once we know that, we can help you.
If you don't know all the specs to your system, download and run CPU-Z HERE, then write down the specs and post them here.

that limits your choices if i was you i would sit on it till the dx10 cards come out and get your new rig then as building a new rig now around agp isnt the best of ideas.

i dont blame you for wanting to keep it its possibly in the top 3 agp cards outbut the makers have almost killed agp off. on the plus side that means you can demand a good price if/when you sell yours on

    Core 2 is the best.
It is better then any AMD currently out, You know you will have to buy a new Motherboard either way the core 2 or the x64

i would even go for core 2 duo but there is only one problem i am facing is the motherboards which supports core 2 duo processors are not SLI . so if you are a gamer go for pentium D or wait till they take out a sli motherboard support core2 duo
