after multiple formats and installations of xp pro my computer hangs after booting into the OS. Everything is fine after the first few days of installation. I am able to install programs, play games, restart and boot into xp like usual. All of a sudden after a few days I reboot for whatever reason and log into my account and everything hangs…. I can move the mouse and click the different icons but nothing comes up…the start button pops up my programs but none of them open…..one time I logged in and quickly clicked my browser which opened but became unresponsive a few seconds later along with the rest of the system.. lately I have been using system restore to go back to the day before but I have been unable to pinpoint exactly creates the problem between the restore date and the date the system hangs…..any ideas??

It maybe a bad driver. Drivers are known to create alot of problems such as you described. Have you updated windows? Have you the latest mouse driver? Try looking in your bios to make sure your hard drives and graphics card, Ram, are recognised. Why did you install xp pro a few times? Did you upgrade to xp pro?
