Hi I am planning to get an lcd with hd for my computer. What im wondering is it possible to make it as a primary monitor? Because I tested on my plasma tv and dos never run on a plasma or most other tvs. so can an lcd hd tv act as just like any regular lcd pc monitor? also, can lcd hdtv be used as great resolution for reading same as regular lcd pc monitors?
I use my 27" lcd as a monitor. you have to use DVI connection though, forget about VGA, I tried it and it looks rubbish. My TV can display up to 1280 x 768. you have to keep in mind they are widescreen and if that is an issue for you? i often have my desktop with google, ebay etc running om my 15" TFT whilst watching a movie or running a game on the 27" LCD. You can easily tell windows which one is monitor 1 or 2, 1 being left and 2 being right if you want a split screen. my graphics card is dual DVI out which makes things easy, i did have a crad with VGA and DVI and it did seem to use the VGA as primary output for some reason but would always display on the LCD is i unplugged the monitor.
My video card got dual monitor with hdmi too so I was able to connect to my plasma EDTV, but resolutions arent good enough for internet searching. What I am planning is to have my computer up to bedroom and get maybe like 23" or something lcd hdtv and make it as a primary monitor for seaching internet as well as watch movies, making it a media center pc. It just would not look nice having in bedroom having 2 monitors and bunch of wires. If The plasma EDTV is the primary monitor without 2nd monitor, so if the computer would even boot up to window then there is a problem....so Id hate to buy any TV that cannot see DOS or BIOS screen....which my plasma EDTV couldnt....
